Bitcoin schiet uit de startblokken in het nieuwe jaar

De bitcoin is het nieuwe jaar goed begonnen en koerste aan het begin van de woensdag rond de $3.900. Dat gezegd hebbende was 2018 het slechtste jaar tot nu toe in het relatief jonge bestaan van de belangrijkste cryptocurrency.

2018 werd door bitcoin afgesloten met een koersverlies van 70 procent, het slechtste jaar ooit. De maand december werd afgesloten met een verlies van 13 procent, waarmee de bitcoin voor de vijfde maand op rij lager afsloot, iets dat niet meer was voorgekomen sinds 2011.

De grote vraag onder actieve bitcoin handelaars blijft of met de $3.140 die medio december aangetikt werd mogelijk de bodem van de dalende trend is bereikt die sinds januari 2017 aan de gang is, een vraag die helaas onmogelijk met zekerheid te beantwoorden is. Feit is wel dat het $3.100 niveau met kracht is afgewezen in december.
